Brooches: Working with ribbon and felt

Working with familiar materials in a new or unusual way is a great way of getting young people to think creatively. This workshop involves young people working with felt, ribbons, buttons and coloured thread to create flamboyant brooches. Young people design and make their own brooch within the workshop ensuring that they leave with finished product.

This project works best as a short workshop (approx. 3 hours to make one brooch per young person) but can be extended into a full day project through the addition of other materials and the creation of other types of brooches, badges and bag charms.
