Summer Madness

August 1, 2014
As per usual summer has come and brought with it not only some unexpected good weather (for a change) but also the expected craziness of super busy days caused by multiple projects all kicking off at once.

From publishing new books with Dixon's Trinity to running a mixed media course at the Leeds College of Art Summer School it really is all go, go, go!!! And that's without even mentioning Strong Voices continuing with fantastic partner trips to The Discovery Centre and Leeds City Museum, running arts and craft sessions at Harlow Carr with Artbugs and completing the layout for a new publication created by Lou Sumray with Artforms.

Phew-ee I am going to be ready for my annual leave in September! Before then though there will be some more books being published and further updates on here so you can see what I've been up to. Strong Voices

May 6, 2014
Strong Voices is a project that is aiming to engage our most vulnerable young people in the Arts and Cultural provision available in and around Leeds.

I have recently been commissioned to undertake a series of creative consultation workshops around the Temple Newsam Learning Partnership which will then inform some Arts outreach activities and trips to venues in the city centre. This project I have called Say Something Change Something as it really is that simple!

Starting Soon: Adult Art Group

February 8, 2014
What exciting news! I am starting an adults only art group. So get those kids in bed, park your partner in front of the box and hot foot it down to the fully equipped studio at ArtBugs for a fantastic evening.

All sessions are artist led by myself, but this is not about learning how to paint a certain way or everyone producing the same type of tapestry!

This is sooooo much more fun than that!

Come along for a chance to explore materials, create anything you desire, develop skills if you wish, ...

The Skippko project "Watch This Space" continues to run with sessions in various locations around Leeds working with parents to improve engagement and self confidence.

The Dixons Trinity Academy project "Discover (around the world)" continues to run weekly with students working towards the completion of large scale maps to turn them into impressive banners to be hung around the school.

I continue to offer private tuition to a range of students ...

2013 Round Up...

January 7, 2014
And so 2013 came to a hectic - busy end with another group of REALISE students all achieving ArtsAward and having a lovely celebration event at Archway.

Other developments include the start of 'Discovery (around the world),' an additional studies programme at Dixons Trinity Academy. So far students have designed a group badge, made name tags to help me learn their names, started artist journals and begun a large scale group map that will become a banner to hang around the school. Brill!

I have...

Summer's gone...

October 28, 2013
...And what a busy season it has been with REALISE running again at Archway, books being published and launched and a short stint tutoring children in Rome on an English immersion summer camp.

Another eight young people have successfully completed the REALISE programme, leaving with ArtsAwards, blogs, Creative Arts portfolios and a new bunch of mates to boot. Brilliant! The programme was marked by really high personal and social standards with the community lunchtimes becoming really important...

I Spy Book Publication...It's getting closer!

May 28, 2013
This Spring I spent three weeks with early years pupils and their teacher Vanessa Sawyer creating lots of 2D and 3D works in a range of media based around the theme of 'I Spy.' The completed works along with documentary evidence has then been translated into a book creating a children's book by children for children.

And the date of publication is drawing closer, I can hardly contain my excitement and so here is a sneaky peak for all of you blog readers out there! More to follow later so watch...
