Posted by Sarah Jane Mason on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, In : Exhibitions

This year Pafos is European Capital of Culture 2017. As an artist who has been regularly visiting the Pafos region for over 15 years now I am honored to be able to announce that I am having a show at Cyprus College of Art as part of Pafos 2017.

The Lempa Link explores my relationship with the area and the many other artists and creatives that pass through - many of which call Lempa a second home. Also exhibiting as part of the show are Grahame Parry, Stass Paraskos, ...

Experimental Drawing

Posted by Sarah Jane Mason on Sunday, January 31, 2016, In : Updates
Are you interested in drawing but dread sitting in a silent room with a nude life model and lots of "serious artists" rubbing their chins and peering at their easels?

Then this may be the perfect course for you!

Experimental drawing is a five week course based at Leeds College of Art. The course is workshop based so each week there is something new to explore, new tools to experiment with and new techniques to try out.

Put the fun, curiosity and experience back into your art work!

The Big Draw & Let's Make Books

Posted by Sarah Jane Mason on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, In : Projects
This month two major arts campaigns are joining forces to create an even more exciting project than ever before!

Working with John Jamiesons SILC in Leeds on the Let's Make Books project has been an absolute pleasure so far with teacher Alison Innes supplying an unfaltering supply of knowledge about the pupils and also being a huge source of creativity and inspiration. Early on in the project Alison mentioned The Big Draw and asked if I'd like to get involved and link it with the Let's make Bo...

All sessions are artist led by myself, but this is not about learning how to paint a certain way or everyone producing the same type of tapestry!

This is sooooo much more fun than that!

Come along for a chance to explore materials, create anything you desire, develop skills if you wish, ...

The Great Big Postcard Swap

Posted by Sarah Mason on Friday, August 12, 2011, In : Out and About
So I have sent my postcard across to my swap partner in South Africa and I am eagerly waiting for mine to wing its way across the Atlantic from the USA. Can't wait to see what I end up with :)

Here is one side of my postcard. Most of the main part of the postcard is in fact made from PVA and as such is pretty transparent. This means it doesn't scan too well and a lot of detail gets lost in translation. Anyhoo, you will get the rough idea!

I created this with layers of PVA glue that I subtly dye...

'Are we Going to Scarborough Fair...' Currently on show at the Bradford Playhouse in the theatre bar, open most days! (See the Bradford Playhouse website for details of events and general opening hours.)

A collection of previously unseen works on board accompany '7 on 5', which is doing a bit of a UK tour at the minute!

It's called The World Beach Project and has been developed by internationally renowned artist Sue Lawty (resident artist at the V&A museum in London.) The aim of the project is to...
