Let's go Fly a Kite

This is a great project for a wide range of subjects including Art, Technology and Science. It is project that can be run as solo or group work, enabling you to tailor this t the needs of your school. For example, on an 'Activity Day' this is a fantastic team challenge to build on social skills such as team work and other transferable skills such as communication and problem solving. In addition, you can add an element of sporting challenge by encouraging a kite race at the end of the activity.

'Let's go Fly a Kite' has previously worked with ages 7 - 19 and can be split into a number of small sessions or ran over either half or a full day session depending on the group and what you want covering.

The project involves designing, making and decorating a traditional diamond kite complete with tail and handle. When finished the kites are fully functional and it's great seeing them used at the local park. If shorter activities are required, it is also possible to run this project based upon Chinese paper kites which take approximately an hour from start to finish.

Examples below come from a project ran in conjunction with Rossindale Borough Council and shows examples from a mother and toddler group, primary school and open day sessions.
