I Love West Leeds Festival

I Love West Leeds Festival is an annual family Arts festival that focuses on bringing the action right onto people's doorsteps - one yer the idea was ot have a 'Washing Line Exhibition.'

The original idea of the 'Washing Line Exhibtion' included artworks from contemporary local artists including Shaeron Carton-Rose, Hayley Mills-Styles, Beate Rohle and Jamie Picton. In addition, artist Kevin Hickson has worked with five local primary schools to create special pieces of laundry for the line!

The pieces were on display in July in Armley at Cedar Road and Claremont Place and if you happened to be there at the right time you may have seen artist Lou Sumray drawing the washing lines live in the streets!

Shown are some images from my commission work for I Love West Leeds 2011.

There are preparatory photographs from my visit to the area and images of the finished commission piece which is just over 2m long and inspired by the numerous amounts of broken pegs I found lying in the streets!
